LAKE MAHINAPUA PARTY

24th - 25th February 2019

Next stop: Lake Mahinapua. Known for its costume parties it is located on the West Coast in a very isolated area (no signal at all so we had to be social again!). The theme of our bus for the fancy dress party was ‘The Job I’ll Never Have’ and we decided to go out there with our outfits (although it backfired in the end as we had to explain it to everyone haha!)

We stopped off in a town called Greymouth to buy our costumes (or what we needed to make them). We bought some plain black clothes and white polystyrene balls. Using superglue we stuck the balls all over the clothes... that was our outfit...

For those of you who are still wondering what we were actually trying to be... in the film industry computer generated imaging (CGI) is used to turn actors into things such as avatars, aliens, animals etc (special effects). And when they do, the actors have to wear outfits like the ones we made! 10/10 for originality!! I’m sure some of you are still really confused haha but that’s what we went as and people loved it!

The Lake Mahinapua Hotel itself was really nice and gave a volleyball court!
