ROTORUA, HUKA FALLS & TAUPO

15th February 2019

We began our day having a tour around a geothermal park called Te Puis in Rotorua. We learnt more about Maori carvings and green stone that is made into pendants.

We even saw a REAL Kiwi (although we weren’t allowed to take photos, plus it was really dark). Massive highlight as seeing a real Kiwi was high up on the list! The geothermal area was incredible and we even ate an egg that was cooked in a water hole that was naturally over 100 degrees.

Huka Falls was the next stop, which are a set of waterfalls on the Waikato River and it speaks for itself... 220,000 litres of water barrels through per second.

Driving a couple more hours South, we arrived in Taupo with its well known lake. It is the second largest freshwater lake by surface area in the Oceania region. The surface area roughly covers the entire size of Singapore - which is crazy!! So the best way to see it was of course to go on an evening boat trip (including pizza which topped it off)!!!
