WHITE WATER RAFTING IN RIVER VALLEY
17th - 18th February 2019

Beginning the 17th February, we left Taupo and drove down to River Valley. We had a quick stop in Tongariro National Park to Taranaki Falls.
This was a 2 hour walk that everyone was reluctant to do after the 20km hike the day before!
We then drove to River Valley and got settled into our accommodation which was a wooden lodge. We were in a room where there was essentially one big bunk with rows of matteresses. Very cosy indeed haha! Everyone actually loved the concept!
We chilled by the river then spent most of the night with most of the bus chatting and listening to music as there was no signal (had to actually be sociable!)

The next morning was the white water rafting which was SO MUCH FUN! Now here’s for the best part... the hundreds of photos...
We went down some grade 4 and 5 rapids, very steep and rough, so we couldn’t help falling out of the boat! There was one rapid that at least 6 boats capsized - the guides were really worried at one point but we didn’t have a care in the world going down them! People have actually died along the river and all of our boats apparently kept on going into the ‘death zones’, but again we didn’t seem to be worried at all haha....
